Kidney stone is it really as bad as they say?

I don't care how high your pain tolerance is. Kidney stone pain is excruciating. I just spent 4 weeks trying to pass an 8mm stone (finally last night!) It feels like there is a knife twisting in your back while someone is repeatedly punching you. Vicodin didn't touch the pain at all. Oxycontin helped a LITTLE bit. It is awful, awful, awful pain.
